Information conveyed during counseling or therapy sessions is confidential and will be released only at your request and signed authorization. Rare exceptions to confidentiality include actual danger to self or others and abuse reported by a child or dependent adult. The staff will be pleased to discuss this with you. If you wish other professionals to exchange information with this office, you will need to sign an authorization for that release. We are pleased to provide and mail the appropriate forms.

As is increasingly the case throughout the counseling and mental health field, an individual therapy session is typically 45 minutes in duration. Although the initial session is usually one hour in length, the standard procedure now recognized by most health insurance carriers allows for subsequent therapy sessions of 45 minutes. Fees are $95.00 per 45 minute session for Drs. Jennings, Dr. Harper and Brown with the fee for the Initial evaluation interview session of $148.00. The fees for psychological testing are additional and available upon request. The fee for legal deposition or court appearances is $140.00 per hour and will include charges for preparation and travel time. Reasonable charges will be made for lengthy telephone consultations or reports or correspondence provided for CAS clients. Reports for privately requested evaluations will be released following the final payment toward the bill for services.

This office is recognized by most major health insurance carriers for the treatment of difficulties which are "diagnosable" and of "medical necessity". Insurance carriers vary widely in terms of services which are covered, amount of deductible, percentage of coverage, recognition of provider credentials, etc. We cannot "speak for" your coverage, but can inform you of our experience with your carrier. Marriage counseling is not covered by the majority of health insurance since it is not considered to be medically necessary. Some educational and parent/child problems are not covered. The office will assist you in filing a claim whenever coverage is likely. However, your account is ultimately due and payable directly by you. A 1.5% service charge is added to accounts 30 days past due.

Appointments can be scheduled by contacting the office at (319)334-6820. The phone is electronically answered when the office is not open. Our office runs on a busy schedule and we ask that you give at least 24 hour notice when rescheduling an appointment. A charge will be made for appointments failed or canceled with less than 24 hours notice. We recognize that your time is also valuable and if we run more than 15 minutes behind schedule we will attempt to contact you.
